YOUNG PERSON ACHIEVER AWARD 2023

The NHIA Board recognise the development of the next generation.

NHIA introduced in 2020 a new award called the Young Person Achiever Award.  This award is to applaud the commitment and excellence of young people 35 and under. 

For the 2023 Award NHIA is excited to announce that the Gardiner Foundation will fully Sponsor the Young Achiever Award Winner with sponsored training for the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program

Program overview

Over the course of a week they will develop leadership, communication and planning skills. Through personal involvement and group participation they will gain an understanding of their strengths and development needs, as well as having the opportunity to network with keynote speakers from a range of rural and community organisations from across Australia.

 This program is designed to connect them with prominent community and industry leaders to maximise your learning experience. The program is supported by NAB Agribusiness.

Who should attend?

NHIA ask that you nominate emerging leaders and those who would get maximum benefit and have a keen interest in this program. They must also be keen about their career in industry with:

  • potential to contribute as a leader in their community and industry
  • demonstrated desire to develop their leadership skills, self-confidence and personal effectiveness
  • capacity to contribute to our diverse national industry, sector and role representation criteria

Preferable participants should be at least 21 years of age to 35 years of age.

Learning outcomes

They can expect to gain:

  • an appreciation of the demands of leadership within the current rural environment
  • awareness of the five major practices of successful leaders
  • an understanding of your own strengths and development needs, and how these interact
  • communication strategies
  • decision-making skills

On campus accommodation and all meals are supplied.

The successful applicant must be committed for the training Sunday 14th May to Friday 19th May 2023. They need to have confirmed the leave would be approved with their employer for the full program.

LAURIE WELLS AWARD

NHIA is proud to have a long-standing tradition of awarding the prestigious Meritorious Service Award, which is now named the Laurie Wells Award.

This Award is to Recognise Excellence and Outstanding Service to Industry

Someone who has delivered significant Outstanding Service to the Australian Dairy Industry and more specifically, the Herd Improvement Sector.
